Installing a Xen Para virtualized machine

The virtualization variant Para virtualization is the counterpart to an OpenVZ virtualized machine. Xen Para virtualization is also very close to the hardware and therefore more resource-efficient. The virtual machine equally accesses the host system kernel directly and therefore does not have a flexible kernel configuration.

The installation of such a virtual machine is fully automatic. After completion, the customer receives an e-mail with the SSH login data to the vServer.

In the vServer administration area, select the menu item "vServer" → "Para New Installation":

Select the desired operating system in the drop down - the operating systems are always kept up to date by our technicians:

A data copy can be performed to back up the previous data before reinstallation via "Start reinstallation with data copy". As soon as "Start new installation" is selected, the status of the virtual machine automatically changes to "Installation".

The installation of the vServer should be completely finished after about 5 minutes. Afterwards the vServer is accessible via SSH and you can log in with the root password defined under "Overview".

The root password can also be adjusted via the overview area. The settings are applied directly to the virtual machine.
