Login to the vServer administration area
First you have to log in to our vServer administration area. You will receive the necessary login data as well as the login address automatically from our administration system via e-mail.
Select images / boot
After the successful login you can choose between different functions in the administration area. To start the installation, the corresponding installation image must first be selected under the menu item "vServer" → "HVM New Installation". In our example, we choose Windows Server 2022 Standard 64 Bit - DE - i.e. the German Windows Server 2022 64 Bit Standard version.
Once the installation image has been selected, simply press Change. The virtual machine will then automatically change the mode and boot the installation.
Launch VNC Console
To perform the installation now, you have to switch to the menu item "Overview". There you will see the basic information about the Windows virtual machine. In the middle there is the VNC address, the VNC password and the connection link that starts a JAVA application. This is a browser-side VNC client that automatically establishes a VNC connection to the virtual machine. You can now copy the VNC password and right click on the green start icon to start the connection.
Once the installation CD has booted, the VNC Console should have the following menu:
Perform Windows Installation
The VNC Console can now be used to perform the Windows installation without any problems. The partitioning does not have to be changed during the first installation and the Windows version does not have to be selected additionally. As soon as the following screen appears, the Windows installation has started successfully. The installation now needs about 5-10 minutes to load the files from the local storage.
Afterwards Windows boots normally from the hard disks. Now you have to assign an administrator password.
After assigning the administrator password, the vServer restarts itself once again. After that you will see the lock screen, which you can unlock using the additional bars via Ctrl+Alt+Send Del:
After logging in, the required drivers still install automatically. Here you have to follow the installation once:
After installing the drivers, the vServer must be restarted once again.
Now only the IP address must be entered. The network gateway as well as the usable IP addresses can be found in the vServer administration area under "IP overview".
The IP addresses must always be entered statically, since no DHCP server is available for the virtual servers.
Finally, you can optionally activate the Remote Desktop service so that you can connect to the Windows vServer using the Windows Remote Desktop Client. However, this is already activated by default in current Windows Server versions.
The installation of the Windows virtual machine is now complete.
